SEXUALITY, ILLNESS AND HEALTH/SEX AND CELL DISEASE (CANCER): TESTICULAR TUMORS

Testicular tumors: Cancer, cell disease in testicles, is the leading form of cancer in men between twenty-nine and thirty-five. Men should do self-exams for this form of cell disease each month by taking a warm shower or bath and gently rolling each testicle between the thumbs and fingers of both hands. Feel for nodules, changes in consistency, swelling, or lumps. All men are different, so once you are used to doing this exam, you will know how you “should be.” If you find something suspicious, go right to the doctor. It probably will not be cancer anyway, but it’s a good idea to check. Eighty-eight percent of cases of cell disease in this area of the male body have spread before they are detected, so don’t wait to go for a checkup.

Surgical removal of the testicle with overgrowing cells is usually the treatment of choice, and there are obvious sexual implications with such a procedure.
